Joyce and Hans

Errol's mum and step-dad

What a year they have had!
Some of the health challenges that have been thrown at them would make the strongest among us blanch.

It is amazing to see the way they have been so strong in the midst of what some would give up in.

When all that is weighed up I can see how the wisdom of the older generation should be grasped by the young to instil backbone and tenacity in these challenging times.

It creates and atmosphere where love can grow and it only requires one to see the sacrificial type of attitude to be a part of it.

Mum and Hans are still living in the old family home where she moved to with her Mum and Dad when she was a little girl. They have restored it and it is quite incredible in these days to consider that when she moved there initially it was already and OLD house.

Mum was born in the suburb of Banyo in Brisbane so she is a long time resident of this state.

2010 What a great lady and how she exudes strength.

Hans family come from Hamburg and spent much of his younger life on the sea as a merchant seaman and he was, up until several years ago, a tug master for the port of Brisbane.

They have both had some real health issues this year 2010 but are now getting on top of them.

.

Both of them have traveled around the world but still call Australia home.

Mum has a real passion for her Great Grand kids and is one of the generation who keeps everything and is a font of historical memories.

I am constantly amazed at the memoirs of people she knew in her school days who are still part of her life.
Some of the people I have forgotten are still close to her and Hans and it is wonderful to see friendships which last for several generations like ones she has.

-- They have had a continuing line of German Shepherd dogs over the past 40 years (approximately) and each on has been really special.

The current one is called Maverick!!
