This is our newsletter for the year ending December 2005.
Ann retires from KINGS A very busy year has passed by, called 2005. Ann finally retired after 25 years with King’s Christian College . As you may have heard, last year (at the beginning of 2005) Ann was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy so we have had to modify the house quite a bit. She is coping very well and is looking forward to a very bright and productive future. The genetic nature of this condition means that the medical world is not really involved in the rehabilitation of Ann from being mostly reliant on using a wheelchair outside the house. They have no answer or suggested cure. We, as a family, are believing God to heal, and in the meanwhile we are trusting His goodness to carry us through. (The medical profession has no answer.) Our church family has been wonderfully supportive.
A Personal Thank You I want to thank all my faithful clients who I have had the pleasure of serving in my capacity as a trusted jeweller for over 35 years here on the Gold Coast. I am still based in the premises at Nerang but I am reducing my involvement in the general jewellery side of my business. I will still facilitate fine crafted pieces for those special clients. This will have to be by appointment only and I have to ask that no time constraints be imposed. I have already had to pass up a couple of major commissions because of short time span requirements. (The quality pieces I have completed in this last 6 months were very satisfying to both my clients and myself.)
The celebration of 100 years since Rotary was formed by Paul Harris in 1905 is a real milestone and I am proud to be associated with my club of Ashmore Rotary. They are a great bunch of guys and gals. =============================================
Both Ann ’s mum and mine are getting along OK but like us all, the years are catching up. My mum is in Brisbane and gets to see the Great Grandkids fairly regularly. She and Hans are continuing to lovingly restore the 100+ year old family home in Greenslopes. Ann ’s mum is close by and gets quite a few visits from the family. It is really a blessing to have the understanding of you all who have respected my choice of lifestyle to not go to the big shop approach and to simply concentrate on giving you quality and service at reasonable and non inflated prices. (The relaxed approach also still allows me to get out for the Wednesday afternoon game of Golf at Parkwood. Handicap is steady at 10! But that does not mean I play to it all the time)
